XP hangs just before the logon prompt..

My HP Laptop boots fine. It reaches the screen with the
two-tone blue and XP splash logo, it then hangs...

Any ideas?

I have tried all the safe mode options. I do not have an
ASR disk.

I have the same problem. Can't seem to find an answer

except to destroy all my files. If you get a response
that helps, I'd appreciate it if you would forward it to
