XP hangs every time I try to write to CD

I'm using XP Home with SP1. I use Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 to format my CDs
to store data on. Last night, I struggled through copying to 2 CDs, and my
computer seemed to hang on every file that was over 10 Meg. It took me about
four hours to complete the job. Tonight, I'm trying to copy about 500 meg
to a newly formatted CD, and it hangs on the first file over 10 meg (about
30 meg). I'm not really sure that the size of the file has anything to do
with the computer hanging, but whenever I remove that file from my source
folder, and reboot, the copy continues until another large file hangs the
computer again. It just occurred to me as I'm writing this that the problem
may be with the hardware, not the software.

Has anyone out there had a similar experience that may be able to shed some
light on solving my problem???

Have you gone to Roxio's site and downloaded the latest updates for your
software? Scanned theough their forums for your problem?
Uninstalled/reinstalled Roxio?

Duh on me I suppose. It was late, and I was pissed so I lashed out at the
newsgroup. Let me go do some homework.
