xp garbled text?

Please help, I've been running xp on my dell for years, I ran quick clean
last night and now all the text on xp is garbled with symbols. Is this a
virus, or a corrupt file, what can I do to resolve this. Thanks for the help.

What text? Where is it? Please describe your problem
so that respondents know exactly what you're looking at!

All of the text under my desktop icons, the programs will open but the menus
are in the garbled text, my emails are in english but not the menus or
toolbars. It is stuff like ? > +_-^?<>~ etc.

Use System Restore to go back a day or two. You won't
lose any data.
