I, also, have a Windows XP freezing problem but mainly when I use a USB
device, i.e. scanner, pen drive, camera, or card reader. I cannot find any
reference to freezing problems with USB devices. There are no drivers for
the devices when used with Windows XP. Usually I can use the device and
sometimes during use or just after using and removing the device from a hub
the computer will freeze and the only way to restart and recover is to shut
down with main switch.
Does anyone have any info on this? Happens on two different machines with
the same devices.

I agree with the heat problem.... Also check your computer date and time
and also your time zone. You are posting well into the future and from the
Mountain time zone

Is it a "bad" (faulty) Elitegroup K7S5A motherboard in your machine ? I ask
because a friend had one of these and while XP and his apps. installed okay
and seemed okay for a while, it eventually, (within days and a week or two),
started doing all sorts of wierd things. As soon as we swapped it out for
an Asus A7V8x-x, all his wierd problems vanished !

I reinstalled XP 2 times (Home edition, ver. 1.0)

Computer works sometimes 10 minutes, sometimes a whole day.

Than freezes - nothing works (mouse, keyboard...), but restart button :-(

I opened CMOS (Del button during boot) and loaded the best performance -
still no changes.

Any ideas ?
