No apparent correlation with any event ... freezing just
happens ... seems to happen more often after the machine
has been 'warmed up' ... could it be a bad power supply?
This desktop had the Microsoft 2600 Corporate beta of XP
on it, and I've been trying to upgrade it to XP Pro - but
it freezes within the install process at different places.

Any help would very much be appreciated!

my tip for you: backup the important files on another harddisk or
cd-rom, format the disk and install windows xp on the blank harddisc.
this is much better, and there are fewer problems. trust me!

I had this problem recently. It turned oout to be a
faulty processor cooling fan plus a local heatwave. No
problem since fixing fan.
