I upgraded from Windows 98 to XP over the weekend. I was working on installing the critical updates and it rebooted after the first update and now it won't boot up, it gets to the Windows XP loading screen and freezes. It won't enter safe mode either and I can't it to boot up from either my 98 or XP disk. Any suggestions?

reinstall xp from boot disk press F6 when prompted and have the hard drive
controller drivers ready on a floppy to insert.

Ok, it won't boot from the disk though and I am having a hard time
figuring out where in my BIOS is the option to change so it will boot from
my cd-rom and not my hard drive

Here's a novel idea - have you tried RTFM?!
