Unfortunately, this rather important feature is not too intuitively
obvious. Fortunately, however, help is just an F1 keypress away. The Help
and Support Center documents the process clearly. Search for "firewall."
Here is a synopsis:
1. Open Network Connections in Control Panel;
2. Right-click on the connection you want to protect with the firewall, and
choose Properties from the shortcut menu;
3. Click the Advanced tab;
4. Click the check box before "Protect my Computer and Network...";
5. Click OK
Then you are done.
When you run into a problem with Windows XP, get into the habit of using
the Help and Support Center by either pressing the F1 key at the Desktop or
by doing Start > Help and Support.
