XP Firewall

I am trying to disable Firewall in my XP Home edition. I
have received several ideas from Newsgroups participants
and my computer manufacturer. None of them seem to work,
at least for me. After going into Network connections
and hi-lighting the connection I want firewall disabled,
it brings up a box with Properties at the bottom. I
right click on Properties, box goes away and I never see
Advanced tab to uncheck the box that I need to uncheck.

It was also suggested that I had to go in as
administrator. This I can believe because one of the
help screens I checked out indicated this was a job that
had to be accomplished as administrator. The only way I
have been able to go in as administrator was to go
in "safe mode". When I did that, my Network Connections
screen was blank (as if there were no network
connections).

Could someone please give complete simple instructions
that a novice could understand. Obviously, I am
certainly not an expert.

When you highlight your connection, hold the cursor over it and right click,
a menu will popup, left click on properties, a box will popup, left click on
advanced tab.
If you turn the xp firewall off make sure you install and use another third
party firewall. Everyone on the internet needs a firewall.

Don't *right* click Properties, just click it and you will get the
Properties sheet with the Advanced page, where the 'enable firewall' box
is, to click to uncheck and click Apply

Alex:

When a limited user in Home opens the properties page for a NIC, the
Advanced tab/page is not displayed.
OP needs to setup an additional Admin gp user to see the Advanced tab/page
via normal GUI mode, or boot into Safe Mode with Networking via
Administrator logon.

Also, right or left mouse button click does not make any difference.
