XP Firewall shuts down on it's own

I have had the XP firewall disable many times, especially
when my daughter is online. My initial response is
hackers have found a way around it. We have a dial up
modem, so if this is the case they must know we are
online somehow. My computer is up to date with all
critical updates. What causes this and is there anything
I can do to prevent it.

I doubt that is is hackers, with a dialup your ip address
changes every time you connect, more likely one of the
dependantices required for the firewall is shutting
down, look in your event viewer at the times this happens
better yet a third party firewall is much better.Try zone
alarm it free
