XP Firewall Error

when I try to start the XP firewall I get an error "the
dependency service of group failed to start"
Please don't tell me how to start XP firewall, I know how
to start it, when I start it I get this error.
 
I have the same problem and it appened to me twice
allready ....the first 2 time I just did a repair with
the XP CD but this time it's diffirent so....you can try
this if you want....
boot from cd then at the first question it will ask dont
repair just continu to the second repair option menu
right after you agree to license then press r to repair
windows will run setup but you wont loose any information.

Greetings --

Right-click My Computer > Manage > Services and Applications >
Services. In the right-hand pane, scroll down to right-click on the
Internet Connection Firewall and select Properties. Click the
Dependencies Tab. Make sure that all of the listed system
components/services are shown as started in the Services list.

Normally, you will need to have the Application Layer Gateway
Service, the Network Connections, the Network Location Awareness, and
the Remote Access Connection Manager started.
