XP fax won't ring

I use my fax all the time. when the phone rings, it
rings "on" my computer also. A couple of weeks ago it
quit, I found out that somehow the system services for
the fax was "stopped" I restarted the fax service and it
worked fine. now I noticed that for some reason it does
not ring. I have installed all the updates for Xp home
edition. Any ideas?? Althoug it doesn't ring I can still
click on "answer now" and it will recieve a fax, and I
can view it?
 
Through the wizard?? or in services? Where is that you
are talking about?

Hello I did that several times, all the boxes are
checked, nothing in the configuration has changed. I have
unistalled it, rebooted, reinstalled and went through the
fax configuration, then rebooted. I have the boxes
checked for send and receive and also have the box
checked to manually answer, also I went in fax properties
and under tracking and made sure that all boxes was
checked, also i can "test " the sounds " it all works.
Would Nortons firewall cause a problem? Russ I do
appreciate your help.

Another common cause of this problem is firewall software Trojan horse
rules. The most common is one that ships with Norton Internet Security.
