Winxp HE.
Had mayor problem with my system.
Reformatted HD and now I'm looking for an easy/simple fax program.
Had Winfax Pro but everything I've read says it doesn't play well with XP.

Any suggestions please,

What's wrong with the built in fax program that comes with XP? You need
to go to Control Panel/Add Remove Programs /Add Remove Windows programs
and install the Fax program. Be sure to have your XP CD handy as the
install program will ask for it. Then go to Device Manager and make sure
that the fax is set to receive. Open the Fax Console and Tools/Configure
Fax.

1. The CD that came with my modem doesn't show a fax program, Wincom v.92.

2. Not sure about the fax program. From what I've read on different
newsgroups, it doesn't work with all modems and there seems to be problems
with it.

I've had no problem with the fax program that comes with Win XP and I
use it all the time. It converts faxes into .tif files, which is handy
if you want to email the fax to someone.

Thanks for all the input. Seems that the xp program is working for some
while Mightyfax is recommended also.
Will check them out.

again, thanks to all,

I didn't have a good experience with Mighty Fax.

again, thanks for the input.

I just got my system back up and running and I don't want to put anything on
it that "may" either, not work or will mess it up again.
I know nothing is 100% but I'm going to be very careful.

MightyFax worked perfectly for me and has done so for years
already. The newest version has a friendlier interface as well.

MightyFax is $19.95. XP's fax is included with the OS. I went to their
web site and I see they finally have caught up to XP and now faxes can
be saved as a .TIFF file.

Ok. I've installed Xp fax program and received a fax.
Problem, I can't "view" fax.
It mentioned Win picture and fax viewer but I can't find it.

Again, thank for all the input.
I've got WIN fax up and running.
If it doesn't do what I need, I think about trying try Mightyfax.
I had Winfax Pro loaded for years(win98se) but it didn't work well with XP,
even after I d/l the xp patch.
I also uninstalled NAV and installed AVG.
My IT guy said this is "probably" what happened to my system.
That's why I'm being very careful in what I put on my sytem.

Again, thanks.
