XP explorer problem

When I open my windows explorer and double click on any
folder on the left side of page, I get what expect, that
is to open the folder.. When I double click on a folder on
the right side, I don't get what I expect, it opens a
search command....How do I set the right side to use the
expand or open option???? Help

You have a damaged file association. Run regedit.exe - open to
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell
and in the right pane double click on (Default) and set to the explicit
four characters
