XP event viewer replacement?

I get irritated with the XP event viewer because every time I run it I
have to resize it or maximize it. So, I searched for a freeware
replacement that remembers its window size and, preferebly, the log
columns too. There are a few log analyzers that are fairly large
programs and have features I don't need (collecting logs from other
machines, sending email alerts, etc.). The only simple event viewer
that I was able to find is Event Log Explorer at
http://www.eventlogxp.com/
It does exactly what I wanted but unfortunately, on my system at least,
it causes an error message each time it accesses the log file. So...
does anyone know another freeware event viewer?

Two you may want to try.

pserv.cpl

pserv.cpl is a Windows NT/2000 Control Panel Applet that

* Allows you to control all NT services and devices
* Allows you to uninstall applications (new in 2.6)
* Allows you to (at least partially) replace eventviewer (new in 2.4)
* Allows you to (at least partially) replace task manager (new in
2.4)
* Allows you to connect to remote machines
* Has many features your Windows 2000 MMC doesn't offer you
* IT IS FAST.
