XP Evaluation Version->permanent license?

On e-bay I saw a version of XP that claims to be a 180-day evaluation of
the full version of Windows XP to be installed on a new computer. Is this
for real? Can it be converted to a permanent license or will it stop
functioning at 180 days?

TIA

If it is a genuine time-limited eval version (which probably it is, since
they don't cost anything, makes for good sales margins!), it will stop
functioning after that period.
