Hi All

I have a question regarding XP Embedded boot time. Our current XP e build takes about 30 seconds to boot from power-up in which BIOS is 5 seconds. My question is, has anybody managed to get XPe to boot any quicker than this? If so, which components did you take out to achieve this boot time

Thanks In Advanc

Sean,

It will unlikely help you if we say what components we stripped out from our image. The components you put in your image are
required by the device usage and functionality specs. Sometimes you cannot remove a component.
E.g., if it would be a kernel only image, the boot time may be less than 5 sec (not including POST).
E.g., if it would be a Minlogon image, the boot time ~ 10-20 sec (again, it could be much more if we'd have brought in more
components).
In case of Winlogon images, filled-in with many components usually, the boot time is about 30 sec.

Not knowing what your device is for makes it hard to estimate the image size. Have you considered Hibernation? or StandBy mode? That
sometimes may be a good solution to have a fast booting big image.

Also, you may use BootVis tool to find out what components are taking much boot time in your image.
