I have 1024 ram installed on an AM 33EL Motherboard w/AMD
Duron 1.1 processor, but xp only recognizes 512. Have
installed the latest bios updates from the manufacturer.
Any suggestions?

Here is your most recent:

This board doesn't appear to have dual channel, so it can't be that. I
would double check and make sure that both chips are fully pressed into
their slots. What does the BIOS read? You may need to update your BIOS
as well. The max amount of memory supported is 1 GB, so you have hit
the max. There may be an incompatible chip you are using though, so
you'll have to try each one individually and see what it does.

Try swapping the cards into the opposite slots. Sometimes
different brands of memory will work if the opposite one
is in the first slot.
