Hi !
Why do I have to defragment my HD time and time
again, "last 10 runes" and still not defragmented, and
what are you guys doing about it?

Cheers
John

To begin with tone down the attitude. This is not a Microsoft site. We are just simple every day people like yourself who have XP and have learned to use it and are willing, if asked nicely, to help others with their problems. Now why don't you swallow that over blown pride of yours and tell us exactly what is happening with your defragmentation and what steps if any you have take to resolve your issue. Maintenance is a must in XP to ensure that performance remains at peak levels. Once you have established a regular routine of defragmentation it can then be scheduled for once a week or every two weeks depending on how many progrmas you are accessing, adding, or delelting and how often you use the OS. {:~)

As in earlier versions of Windows, you might want to run the 'error
checking' function.. if the problem persists, it could signify HDD failure
in the not so distant future..

As said - it is not 'us guys' who are responsible, so cool it. The
defrag program provided will not do anything unless there is 15% free
space on the drive - most likely that is the trouble
