Ok..I have been reading the news group about XP Home addition crashing..

I have taken some of the advise already..I have downloaded lavasoft adaaware software, intsalled it and run it..

Here is my problem: When XP starts its gives the following error message
"The exception unknown aoftware excaption 0xe0070001 at location 0x77e607566".

Now what has happened is that I have suddenly lost the ability to IE, windows explore
or access my computer and the Operating system..

XP throws up an error message asking if I want to report the error which I do..it the
gives me a popup box saying I need to go get critial updates at microsoft..since I can't us
IE I have installed Netscape 7.1 (which stinks)..when I go to get the critical updates microsof
tells me that I need to run IE..so I have deleted IE from my pc and just tried to install IE6 SP1.
but it fails since it thinks I already IE running....so I can't get the critical updates since I can't install IE..

How is that for a fine Saturday evening..

Its time for a beer...any thoughts, tricks or pearls of wisdom would be
appreciated...

Try this. Log in safe mode (F8) go to Control Panel > Internet Options
Advanced options tab and check 'disable third-party browser
extensions.'

Reboot and see if it works. If it does, you will need to run a scan
with ad-aware and spybot looking for malware.

Good luck
