I have a old pIII-500Mhz notebook without floppy and optical drive.
The bios have not usb boot choice.
How I can install XP ?

I have a external usb2 dvd, the notebook have a USB1 port, I have also
a USB2 pcmia adapter.

I can remove hd and, by usb adapter or 3,5"/2,5" adapter, write
something by another pc.
What?

The best is load a fine bootloader, grub ?, with good driver, that ask
me "Do you boot from usb cdrom?".

It's possible?

(sorry for my little english)

Thanks,

Stefano

remove ur hdd and attach to a pc that has a cdrom and floppy drive. put ur
hdd as primary, copy the windows xp cd to ur hdd say in c:\xp folder. now
make a bootable windows xp floppy (on a pc having xp, right click on floppy,
click format and then select make bootable floppy disk). now boot from this
floppy disk and then at command prompt type c:\xp\i386\winnt.exe /syspart
and press enter. when windows boots for the first time remove ur hdd from
that system and put it in ur system and restart, windows xp will resume
install from ur sytem and it won't need any floppy and cd rom drives.
installing by this method can take some time before actual copying of files
start.so i would recommend u to be patient and wait for 10-15 minutes if
windows says that it is preparing files to be copied.

if u face any problems in this procedure, please do give full details.
