With my old Dell Laptop i had an XP installion cd from Dell!
now i have a new computer but no XP, but from www.ma3d.com i have a free
legal license for xp cause im a student here! can i now instal XP with the
installation cd from Dell and with my legal serialnummer on my new computer?
cause i cant download windows xp because this old laptop doesnt have a
cdburner

your dell installation cd is likely locked to your dell laptop therefore
would be unusable on a different sys.

Get your CD from someone else where you are a student - or get a CD burner -
or something.
You are speaking of two different license types.

OEM (the one that came with your Dell) is *non-transferrable* from one
computer to another..
The one you can get from your school is *non-transferrable* from one person
to another (most likely.)

OEM and the one you can get from your school are different CD/License
types - therefore their CD Keys are not interchangable. The CD Key for
installation of the OEM cannot be used on the other and vice-versa. You
need a copy of the CD to use your free license.

This problem is best solved by the institution you are a student.
Someone there will be able to burn the CD.
Most likely the version of your key and the CD for the computer differ.
There are many kinds of each and they are not interchangeable.
