I hope someone can help me. I have an HP Pavilion 511n
running Win Xp with IE 6. I have had problems with the
system freezing up intermittenly. It only freezes up when
I am connected to the internet(i have cable). It doesn't
happen all the time and there is no set time that it
does happen. Even when I log on to AIM it locks up once
in a while. I also run Norton Antivirus and cannot get it
to a 100% system scan. It freezes and I have to hold the
power button for 5 sec for it to shut down. I cannot help
to think that this is related. I've uninstalled Norton
and
reinstalled. I also run Zone Alarm. I've had no problems
with that when I first got this computer. I had to
reinstalled Windows a few times with 8 disks I received
from HP. It had a few script bugs in their software that
I had to delete anything related to HP in my system. I
have a feeling that Windows is either missing some files
or something is not working but I get no error messages.
I've run Norton Utilities and repaired the Registry and
done a few other repairs. I used Win Xp scan disk and
repaired some disk errors. About 1 to every 3 weeks I
have to run scandisk to repair errors on the drive. I
know that I shouldn't be finding errors on the drive that
much. Hope someone can help.
