Hi
We downloaded and installed Service Pack 1 from the MS
site. The message boxes appeared to indicate that
everything occurred successfully. We "restarted" the
system when asked to do so. Now we can't get past the
welcome screen....the computer simply stops running and
the "blue screen" appears with a critical error message.
We contacted tech support for the supplier of our
computer. The comment was that most likely the download
and installation did not occur correctly and some of the
files became corrupted in the process. We have attempted
to log in under "safe mode" - same problem. Attempts to
boot up from the CD and re-install the operating system
(and begin from scratch) don't work either - blue screen
appears no matter what we've tried. Any suggestions would
be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

PS the error message code is 0x00000080

It would be best if you physically disconnect all hardware
peripheral devices from your PC, except for your monitor,
keyboard and mouse before performing a "Repair Install".
