Start a Command Prompt and have a look at your
environment variables, using the "set" command.
It will answer all your questions!

Hi,

The profiles are located under C:\Documents and Settings. If one is corrupt,
create a new one while logged on as administrator and use the procedure
below to copy the old one into it.

How to Copy User Data to a New User Profile

Note that one step not listed in the article is that after creating the
destination profile you must log into it once first to create the necessary
file structure before you do the copy procedure.

The problem is the account just disappeared. Was fine yesterday and today
even logging in to my account i cannot find the other account profile, yet
trying to create a new account and his account is still there in control
panel, accounts. I have tried adding a new account name but it says i can't
do that as it does not exist (course it doesn't exist, i haven't created it -
aaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhh)

I think you're mixing "account" and "profile folder". You can
have an account without a profile folder, or an profile folder
without an account! The usual situation is to have an account
AND and profile folder.

In your case I think you have an account without a profile
folder. Start a Command Prompt and type

net user

Is the missing account there?

Now check the user profiles folders (probably in c:\documents
and settings). Is the user's profile folder there?

Yes, that's still a common recovery tactic.
