XP Computer Not Seeing Network

Can anyone guess a reason why a relatively new XP machine would not see the
network that it is on?

It is a peer-to-peer setup
The Network Wizard has been run uptine times.
The network card 'works' because the Internet connection to the gateway
works
The Workgroup is consistent
The IP's are assigned, not DHCP and are provided by the ISP
It is a 3 computer netowork
The machines are all XP-Home Machines (HP)
The firewall that ships with HP (Freedom) is our #1 suspect, but we've
uninstalled it to no avail.
I've checked for viruses, worms, reistry errors, etc.
It *used* to work

I hope that this is enough information for someone to give me at least a
clue as to what is going on. I have a friend who is pulling his hair out
trying to figure this one out.

Thanks,

Did you check the Network Properties to make sure that
things such as File and Print Sharing is enabled? Also,
unless you're using a router/hub, make sure you have the
reversed RJ-45 cables. Not sure what else, but I can give
you other tips if you need them.

It *is* behind a router/switch. This is a small-biz network and the IP's
were supplied by the ISP and are all 'live' IP's. They are on the same LAN
(same workgroup, same gateway)

Possibly you do not have your network adapter driver
thingey installed. It's probably on a disk that came with
ur comp.

Can you tell me all your tcp/ip settings such as IP addresses of the
computers, subnet, gateway address,DNS address if any supplied, etc.
