xp client cannot find printers on windows 2000 server

I have windows 2000 server with about 10 windows xp clients.

It has been working great for the last couple of years.

All of a sudden some users cannot print. If user try to print, he gets
error " printer cannot be found" or sometime "printer is not available on
the server "

Sometimes it works ok but all of a sudden it disconnect the printer from the
client. It happens with any users and other users are able to print.

I have checked DNS and it seems to be working fine.

I would really appreciate if you kindly help me.

Are all clients and the DC using the DC's address for DNS only?
No ISP, router, or external DNS address allowed in any position, on any
interface, of any member of an AD domain<period>
