I changed my CD-ROM drive to boot first, then my floppy,
& lastly my Hard Drive then re-booted my computer. Set-
up starts fine & tells me to press F6 to load any third
party SCSI or Raid drivers, then proceeds to load the
necessary files for Set-up to start up. After loading
all of the files I get message saying "starting windows"
then the screen goes blank. I never get to the screen
where I can choose to repair or enter setup. I've waited
as long as 3 hrs. before finally re-booting the
computer. Now whenever I let the computer boot up like
normal (from the HD) I have the option of loading either
XP Setup or XP Home Edition. Choosing setup I still have
the same problems & choosing Home Edition Windows runs
the same it has the past few weeks (processor constantly
running at 90-100 percent) Here's my computers stats:

Thundbird Motherboard (Don't know exact stats)
1.3 Gigahurtz MD Athlon CPU
40 GB Wester Digital HD
512 MB PC133 RAM -2 256MB PC133 sticks
Compaq DVD-ROM
GeForce4 ti4200 128MB Video Card
Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card

Thnx for any help

It may be worth the effort to note down the make and model no. of your
hard-disk, and use a friends PC to go the manufacturers web-site and get the
"diagnostics/utility software" to slap onto a bootable floppy and "low-level
format," {which these days is really just a "zero-fill" facility}, your
hard-disk to remove all traces of previous Windows XP home or pro platform
installations.

Or at least delete all hard-disk partitions with fdisk, if you can access
the seemingly never ending and ever changing, (depending what condition XP
finds your hard-disk is in), range of options available to you when booting
from an XP cd-rom.

All the above is assuming that you have no data to lose on your hd at this
time !

I used the diagnostic/utilites disk that came with my
hard drive & used it again. the first time i ran it it
said my BIOS did support XP, but this time when I ran it
it said it does NOT support XP. Any ideas??
