Step two: Disable Digital Audio

It is possible, provided you have the drive set to use Analog access. You
would then need a cable from it to the sound card to take the analog signal
along, You change the setting in Control Panel - System -Hardware -
Device Manager, locate and double click the drive, and on Properties
uncheck 'Enable Digital Audio'
You will then be able to play the disks through any CD play program
including Media player (but note that the Media Player visualization will
not work, because the signal is no longer going through the machine)
