XP CD Burning has just stopped working, tried many CD-R, CD-RW disks, it was
working couple days ago.

I don't have any restore points to go back to, any way to get it working
again ?

I prefer to use the XP integrated burning if I can get it working again.

Grumpy, open MyComputer>rt click on Drive Icon>select Properties>Recording
Make sure that the box "Enable recording on this drive" is checked. If it is
then rt click MyComputer>select Manage>Services>IMAPI CD Burning Service
Set it to auto. Finally if that doesnt help rt click on MyComputer>select
Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives>your drive rt click and
choose uninstall. Restart and let XP reinstall it.

Thanks Guys for your replies - no luck yet

Byte:

I usually have many restore points available, but had just tried to use
restore, but it failed to work on 4 different restore points that I tried,
so I
deleted all, since they were not working anyway, probably should have just
left them.

Have read the links you supplied, not sure where to start.

Yes its enabled.

2 If it is then rt click MyComputer>select Manage>Services>IMAPI CD Burning
Service, Set it to auto.

It was on manual, so I set it to "auto".

3 Finally if that doesn’t help rt click on MyComputer>select
Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Dvd/Cdrom Drives>your drive rt click and

Done, CD drive shows up, reinstalled ok, repeated steps 1 & 2 above,

But it still won't burn?

Gives error message

"CD Writing Wizard
Cannot Complete the CD Writing Wizard
There was an error in the writing process. the disc you have attempted
to write to may no longer be usable.
What do you want to do?
etc etc,,,,,,,,,,,"

I will never give up for one thing, dam them pesky little wizards they never
work !

Is there anything else I can try? Tried many disks, none work, but all do
work with third party burning software.
