XP can't see keyboard & mouse after new motherboard.

I had to replace my motherboard & since then when the computer boots up into
XP it doesn't recognize the keyboard or mouse. When I'm in the BIOS menu or
any other program that I go into before the computer boots into XP the
keyboard & mouse works fine. I'm guessing there's an error in the IRQ. I've
tried to connect the keyboard & mouse to all the USB ports & (I'm not sure
what the name of them are) the old keybord & mouse ports, the round ones & it
doesn't work on them either when I get into XP. Is there any way to fix this
problem? BTW I've reset the BIOS to the default settings & also installed
the newest BIOS from Dell's website. What else can I do or is there
anything? Will I just have to re-install XP? Thanks

is your keyboard usb or ps2, if its usb usually they come with drivers but
the drivers are not always needed, but try installing the drivers and see if
that work, if your keyboard and mouse are wireless drivers will be needed.

With a motherboard replacement, unless it is an identical board, it is
usually necessary to do a "Repair Install" of Windows XP in order to
get the operating system properly configured for the new hardware.

A Repair Install will preserve all of your installed applications,
user data files, and program configuration settings. Windows updates
will have to be reinstalled.

And if you have upgraded your installed XP to Service Pack 2 and your
Windows XP CD is the original release or Service Pack 1 version then
you will have to create a new installation CD with Service Pack 2
slipstreamed into it in order to do the Repair Install. See
