Hi,
Ive got two partitions in SATA stripe one of 28.18BG and 120GB. approx 11GB
to short. it is a 160 maxtor SATA. Ive tried loading big drive enabler and
ive also reformatted the 120GB partition to see if that would allow it to
all be seen. but it still shows 120GB. every where else it does show 160. Any
ideas on how to make it see the whole drive.
Thanks

Make sure you have Windows XP with at least service pack 1 installed because
without service pack, it has a limitation of 137 GB max. Although HD has
specified that the capacity is 160GB in total, however it is measure in raw
capacity. After formatted using NTFS file format, the OS usable capacity will
be reduce.

Hmm, I don't think so..

In theory, FAT32 volumes can be about 8 terabytes; however, the maximum
FAT32 volume size that Windows XP Professional can format is 32 GB.
Therefore, you must use NTFS to format volumes larger than 32 GB. Windows XP
Professional however can read and write to larger FAT32 volumes formatted by
other operating systems

Hard drive manufacturer's list the capacity in decimal notation.
Their definition of a gigabyte is one billion bytes. For them a
160GB hard drive contains 160 billion bytes. That's
160,000,000,000.

Windows, on the other hand, uses the binary system. In the binary
system a GB = 1,073,741,824 bytes.

To calculate the hard drive capacity according to Windows you
have to divide 160 billion by the binary value for a gigabyte.

That's 160,000,000,000/1,073,741,824.

That comes out to around 149 GB.

If the total listed by Windows for all the partitions you have on
this drive is close to 149 GB then you're fine. Keep in mind that
if these partitions are NTFS drives, Windows leaves a small
amount of unallocated space available in case you ever wanted to
convert the disk from basic to dynamic.
