XP cannot see network computers

Since no one had any suggestions when first I asked, I
thought I would try again.

I have two machines connected via a wireless network.
Both use WinXP. The
remote pc can no longer connect to the base pc, although
the network has
been working without any problems for a long time.
The symptom was a sudden disappearance of the base pc
entries in "My Network
Places" on the remote laptop.
The base pc can still access the laptop (although I had
to re-enter all the
shared items using their IP addresses), but, the laptop
cannot access the
base. The laptop can see both machines listed in
Workgroup.
Both machines connect to the internet with no problems.
I suspect some file damage may be the problem since
the "Add Network Place
Wizard" on the laptop hangs when I attempt to add a
network place.
Can anyone suggest something I might try, short of a
reinstall of the
operating system? (I have, of course, reinstalled the
wireless drivers
several times without any improvement.)

Hello
Do a system restore back to the time when it worked properly and then check
to see which settings have changed.

I am also experiencing this problem its like my primary
machine is in stealth mode. I also recieve an unknown
host type when running the cmd: IPCONFIG /all. The
Knowledge base has a fix in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\NetBT
\Parameters
but the key is set to 1 - this fixes nothing.

HELP!
