XP boots up too slowly!

My system is Intel P4 2.4 GHz with 256 MB DDR RAM but it
boots up too slowly, I also have WINDOWS 98 loaded on the
same computer, but that loads up and shutsdown pretty
fast. Such a case doesnt occur with XP.

Help will be much appreciated.
