Hi !!

just recently bought windows home xp full version, and I was wondering if
its possible to create, and where is the menu wizard for a boot disk?

I plan on reformatting my hard drive and this question came up!!??

A boot disk will be needed to access my cdrom drive when I'm taken to dos
mode since there will be no OS when I reformat!!

The only thing I can think of doing is using my win 98 upgrade boot disk to
give me access to my cdrom, unless home xp can create one for me!!

Thanks for any help!!

Actually, you shouldn't need a boot disc. Your computer can almost
certainly boot from a CD-ROM. If you wish to reformat and reinstall, try
inserting the Windows CD-ROM disc, then rebooting. The computer should boot
from the disc, and begin the installation. Follow the on-screen prompts,
and at some point you will have the option of formatting the drive.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered
the opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of
the installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of
boot devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)

Mike;
All retail and most if not all OEM Windows XP CDs are bootable and
have all the necessary installation and repair files so a boot disk is
not necessary.

The Windows XP CD is bootable. You should not need a boot disk if
your BIOS is set to boot from a CD. The Windows setup routine has all
the tools to create and format partitions for a clean install.

Boot diskettes are a thing of the past, as all legitimate WinXP
installation CDs are already bootable.

Simply boot from the WinXP installation CD. You'll be offered the
opportunity to delete, create, and format partitions as part of the
installation process. (You may need to re-arrange the order of boot
devices in the PC's BIOS to boot from the CD.)
