I have a user that has installed an IPod on their laptop and it blue
screens when using the IPod. Microsoft has responded with saying that
the problem is caused by eTrust. Was wondering if anyone else has
experienced any similar issues???

I'd suggest that you get the exact STOP error message and see if you can tie
it to a particular file on the system. Frequently it's a driver update issue
that can be solved with a bit of research.

I've seen AV cause blue screens with USB devices before. That's quite a
credible cause/effect for that error.

Think about it for a moment; AV works by intercepting all file/disk calls.
Plug in something that changes the landscape of that area of the system, and
which the AV filter driver doesn't know how to handle properly, of course
you'll get errors.

As Robert says, a credible answer but by no means the only one.

Following Microsoft's suggestion go into your eTrust antivirus and
configure it NOT to scan the drives associated with your USB iPod (in
other words, restrict virus scanning to your hard disk(s)), and see if
that solves the problem

If it does not then check your background programs. I have seen
programs such as those silly unnecessary card reader programs
(unnecessary on XP) interfere with other devices using USB ports. You
can check your background programs at www.AnswersThatWork.com in
their tasklist pages.

One other thing : have you tried that iPod on another PC ?
