XP and Systemworks Uninstall fiasco

Symantec is no help on this-so I'm turning to all the learned peopl
here. This started when I tried to uninstall Systemworks 2003 from m
sister's PC. It's bloatware and she wanted to use something simpler an
smaller! Long story short-it wouldn't uninstall and I had to do it vi
the Symantec instructions to go in and literally delete it from th
registry-file by file. Yikes! So-I got it mostly done and had t
re-configure the recycle bin so it would no longer be 'Norto
Protected'-did that via the instructions and now the recycle bin i
gone. There is an icon on the desktop that leads nowhere and doesn
have a 'name' to it. Good lord. Ay ideas? I'm afraid I might put m
hand through the monitor. Help a girl out!

I am convinced, Norton is spyware. It certainly acts like it!!!

By the way, Happy Thanksgiving

I cant solve your problem, but i reccomend switching to AVG free
antivirus.. it runs perfect on my craptop with a pentiun II. I
agree norton is crap, its as bad as aol's crapware. Just google AVG
free to get it.

I'd suggest AOL for ythe uninitiated. Really and honestly if you want
good service and delegated reasonable stuff go (IMO) AOL.

For the rest of us it may mean a bit of brain work and analysis.

There is a lot to be said by making it simple IMO

Thanks for the info -I run other anti virus-not Norton and like it fine.
As for AOL, don't need all that bloat either...I am happy using Google
for most everything-gmail, etc.

I still need to get this fixed and appreciate any input!
best!

Did You try to uninstall from the safe mode. I have uninstalled SW2003
several times and only once did it give any problems uninstalling. That one
time I had to go to safe mode to complete the uninstall.

Good luck

I also think that Symantec has an help page to uninstall Systemworks, you
may want to try that.

That's what got me here in the first place-using the Symantec help
page. I followed the instructions there and go into this situation.

Thanks-but I am beyond that now. Norton is uninstalled. The problem is
the disappearing Recycle Bin...how to get it back is the issue. I am
considering trying XP to rollback to the last known good configuration.
Any port in a storm.
