I understand that XP can emulate DOS. Does this mean that I can run by
FoxPro/LAN 2.0 applications under XP? Right now I'm using Win 98 and have
not upgraded because I need to continue using my FoxPro applications.

Maybe.

As I understand it, XP will run "well-behaved" DOS apps. This means that
apps which directly manipulate or interface with the hardware will not run on
XP. I have never seen a reference to anything like a "compatibility wizard"
that will let you know in advance if a particular old DOS app will or will
not run under XP. If your old apps are commercial software, your best bet
would be to ask the maker. If the maker is out of business and there is no
newsgroup associated with its use (check Google Groups), post the names of
the apps here and perhaps someone will have some info.

You'd do best by going to your software mftrs.' webpages and checking
there to see if their programs can run on XP. My understanding from
reading this newsgroup is that some FoxPro apps will and some won't.
You should also do a search in Google Groups for something like "FoxPro
apps Windows XP" and see what you get.

Yes, XP can emulate DOS. Many DOS applications work fine is DOS
emulation, but others don't.

I know nothing about Foxpro or whether your applications will run
or not, so I can't answer your question directly. SOmeone else
here may have an answer for you, but if not, consider trying to
run your Foxpro apps on the machine of a friend with XP. That
should give you the answer.
