xp activation

I have had a series of hard drive crashes and acidentally instlled xp with
the CD for my son's computer instead of mine. Is there a way to activate
without reinstalling?

Things could get complicated if you son has to reinstall his Windows
XP, especially within the next 120 days.

Are the two versions the same, except for the product key?
