I'm trying to find an NG for XNews, but no joy. Is there one?

The first section of the manual points you to news.software.readers.
If you post Xnews questions there, put the tag [Xnews] in the Subject.

Reality folded in on itself, and somewhere the following words from

TIA

As found in the manual: news.software.readers

All questions related to Xnews have "[Xnews]" in the subject for the
benifit of those with content filters, although some of use filters
that rely on other subjects as well.

Switch to a fixed-width font. You'll see it.

FWIW, and using XNews, the quoted version of the sig has been
garbled, and the only way to get it to work is to return to the
original post.

Over-designed.

No, looks like Harvey's right.

And I'm not going to switch to Outlook Express just to see it :)

AFAICT, the only garbled quoted version was in Harvey's post.
Switching to OE wouldn't help once it's been rewrapped, anyway. If you
still want to see it, just 'get parent' until you get back to Maxx's
post.

Nope, still didn't work; but you're showing lots of new things!

Usually, I check this sort of thing by starting to reply - in my setup,
that usually deciphers them (usually it's ASCII electronics!)

But not this one; I guess it's not the end of the world :)

It was garbled the first time I saw it -- which was in the quoted
version.

Using "get parent" got me back to the original, but the only way
to read it that I could see was to highlight it and put it in the
editor to reply -- just going to RawView didn't work.

YMMV, but I figure that any ASCII art that can't survive a quote
or two is over-designed for its purpose. A bit precious.

ranslation out-of-and-back-into it strikes me as over-designed

I dunno, unless it was Xnews' "fix badly wrapped text" option that
changed your view of it. It makes OE posts more readable, but
sometimes ASCII art trips it up.

I guess it depends on one's font settings; I thought the default font
for raw view was a fixed-width one, but maybe not.

It was a sig, not designed to be quoted at all.

Looks fine to me...

Hmmm... I know what I did.

I have "Miscelaneous" under "Fonts and Colors" (Ctrl-F1) set to
"Couier New", primarily because some of the groups I'm into have
users with Character Art Signatures.
Over-designed.

Nope. It took a longer time to find a site that would generate one
I liked then to acually placee it in my SIG. I'm a programer not
an artist; I don't spend weeks on something that other have already
worked out. };8)

Lossing quality sleep to help others online since 1997...

t.
It was a sig, not designed to be quoted at all.

I can confirm that - Xnews does not include it when I start to reply; I
only saw it (apart from the original) on other folks replies, possibly less
well-mannered newsreaders.

And now I've seen the original on the website, I can still hardly make it
out.

P'raps I need new specs.
