X-Private soon Non-Free - Alternative?

Just had a mail that X-Private is to start charging a modest sub. I'm still
broke and, with Individual gone the same route (Knock-on effect perhaps?)
what are the best free alternatives - Preferably with posting allowed, and
maybe even the odd binary group?

Am using ReadFreeNews BigGulp for the time being, but it is so slooooooow.
No complaints though - Free is free, and I'm grateful for their
availability

You might look at BubbaNews, it was free for 50MB/day, last time I
looked. And x-privat said (I think, the email translation was buggy, to
say the least) that the first 10MB/day were still free.

Read it again. The "newsGATE.x-privat.org" server will cost; the
"news.x-privat.org" server remains free.
