X P update

My xp update is set to download but let me decide which to install the
last update said to download and install a program which would check to
see if my version of xp was genuine also my I P adress would be sent to
microsoft i thought this was a bit off so i declined the offer has
anybody else had this ???

Yes it's a new update for WGA, Windows Genuine Advantage.
