Wrong Margins

Chris

I have 2 profiles set up on an XP PRo system with Office
2003. In my setting, when I open word, the initial
document that opens has wrong margins, the margin slider
at the left of the screen, is set to the very top and
bottom, and I cant move it at all. If I open the normal
template from the task pane, the Normal.dot template
opens OK. If I select new from the file menu, this
strangely formatted Document opens. The other user
profile is fine!!, with a normal document opening when
word is opened. I have even resorted to uninstalling and
reinstalling office totally, but this still happens in my
profile!!!! Can anybody shed any light on this, I have
even copied the normal template from the other user
profile to mine, and this still dosnt work.

Many thanks

Chris

I can't quite visualize from your description what is happening. It could be
that you are just in Normal view and unaccustomed to it. Or it could be that
you have white space hidden; see

Thanks
Im definately in Print view. The problem is when I open
word, the default document that loads is not the
normal.dot template. What loads is a dicument, where the
slider at the left hand side, there you can move your top
and bottom margins, is set to the very top and bottom,
and no double sided arrows appear when I try and move it,
it appears to be stuck there. When I manually open the
normal.dot template stored in my profile, that is OK. I
have cured this by creating a completely new profile for
myself, and moving all my old internet, and documents to
the new profile. I would like to know what caused this
though if anybody has any ideas, as it must be a local
setting problem, as I even totally uninstalled Office,
and deleted all the settings folders in my profile as
well, to no avail.

Many thanks

Chris

Yes, thanks Suzanne. I have checked this, and its not the
case. Im totally stumped, that it does this in my old
profile, and not the other 2, even though I have tried
copying the Normal Template from the other profiles into
this one, but still no luck.

Any Ideas?????

I'm not sure how you even figured out what the problem was. I'm still
finding it impossible to visualize.
