Well, I finally got it. There were some knowledge base articles on
restoring the original fonts but none of those tricks worked. So I
deleted the fonts folder altogether along with the fonts registry key and
then did a reinstall (over the top). Works fine. He had over 700 fonts
before... now he has 167. That may have been part of the problem.
