I just installed XP Pro and got the suprise of my life. My boot drive is I,
not C as it should be. How did this happen, how can it be fixed?

The only way to fix this is to re-install WinXP. It often happens
when people leave USB mass storage devices plugged in during
the installation process.

My machine is like that now. It has a SCSI drive so my boot disk is "F:" I
guess the CD and CD-RW jumped ahead of the so-called "C:" drive. No big
deal, really. As I recall, you can rename the boot disk.

If with "rename the boot disk" you mean "give it a different drive
letter" then the answer is no, you can't, Windows won't let you.
There are, of course, ways around this but you would end up with
a crippled system.

Thanks to all who responded. I should have removed my onboard card reader
before installing my new hard drive and XP. I was hoping there was a way I
wouldn't have to re-install. Pipe dream of course. Thanks again!

You can disable USB in you BIOS, install XP and then
enable it again. It saves you opening you computer...
