Writing to rewritable CD

How do I burn to a rewritable CD? Do I have to erase the whole disc and
then burn the complete data again. Isn't there a way to select only changed
files and just burn them leaving the rest intact?

TIA

With the XP native CD writing software, you need to erase and burn the
complete data again. For more flexibility, you need to install CD writing
software that supports packet writing. Nero and Roxio do as does the
Verities software that Sony include with my computer.

You can add new files and overwrite old files (of the same name) without
erasing the whole CD-R/W disk.

What you can't do is delete individual files on the CD-R/W disk without
erasing the whole disk.

Using XP's built-in burner, are you certain that files of the same name
actually "overwrite?" Or are the files added - with the old file no
longer visible?
