write - protected

hello, I have queation about write-protected.
I want to cancel the write-protected of a folder in my harddisk. And I found
that all folder at my HD is writeprotected, even I build a new folder, in its
property is wirte-protected,too.
and after I canceled one of it , and reopen properity of this folder, the
writeprotected is still there. and I witch to the dos, use attrib to show
its Arribute, it shows no writeprotected of this folder. How can I totally
cancel the writeprotected attribute of a folder?pls help me....

If you'll look more closely at the check mark in that Read-Only
box, you'll see that it's gray, not black. You can also verify
this by clicking a few times in the box; it will cycle among
*three* states: unchecked, checked in black, and checked in gray.

A black check means the item is read-only and an unchecked box
means it's not read-only. But the gray check means that it's
neither: the read-only attribute is not pertinent to folders.

So no, your folders aren't read-only, and what you are seeing is
perfectly normal. There's nothing to worry about and nothing to
fix.

Read only is an attribute that has no meaning for folders (the
directories are always open for writing), and XP makes an alternative
use of it. You can change it and on Apply it will ask if you want the
change applied to all contained objects, but the display of it for the
folder will revert to greyed
 
i have the same problem but the check marks in the read only do not have 3
different clors
