I relaise this is not directly on topic but couldn't think where else to
ask.

I want to create a CD I can play on a standard CD player. Windows Media
player seems not too wonderful for this task. does Nero do this sort of
thing? What product and version do I need? Any other product? Can anyone
recommend please?

try windows media player 10, u were prob using version 8 or 11 and hey stink.
try version 10 and burn u files, make sure it says audio disk. and yes to
answer u question, nero does burn audio disks. also a program called burnfree
does 2, its free, hence the name, and record now, realplayer, music math
jukebox, the list goes on.....theres a lot of programs that can burn audio
disks.
