Hello all,

This is only a curiosity question, as all is working well now.
I'm using a D-Link router and wireless USB adapter. I'm going through a
reidential house floor, and about 20 feet over from that. I ran the setup
unsecured with absolutely no problem on ch. 6, and excellent sig. strenght.
When I swithched to straight WPA on the same channel, I would show as
connect/disconnect over and over, with the explanation "trying to acquire
network address". This went on forever, even after trying same on ch. 1.

I kept the same channel and passphrase as before, but changed to WPA2, and
all is fine. Great connection, with same sinal strength as before.

How come? Any thoughts/theories/explanations, or even a psychic welcome.

My TIA,

Hi Curt,

I am going to bet that you are using a Intel PRO 3945 wireless card. We
have had nothing but problems with these cards on WPA. We now use WPA2 for
all notebooks with these cards and everything works. A possible solution
that I found was to use the HP wireless connection software instead of the
microsoft wireless zero software. According to HP the microsoft wireless
zero config software is not supported with the Intel PRO 3945.
