This tool is pretty much spyware... Can microsoft be sued? I mean it gets
installed on our computers without our permission, and sends
computer-specific info without our permission back to microsoft. I mean sure
they made windows, but if it was any other company that did it, it would be
illegal, wouldnt it? What makes microsoft so special?

There is plenty of evidence to suggest that "Jonathan"

You do not have to install it. Exercise your freedom of choice.

Jonathan;
You gave permission to install it either directly or indirectly depending if
you went to Windows Update and downloaded it or have your settings for
Windows Update at Automatic.

There has been some talk of a suit, but I doubt it will go anywhere because
of the choices you have and made.
Search Google if you are interested in a suit.

WPA is Windows Product Activation. WGA is Windows Genuine Advantage. You
can choose not to install it.

Dunno offhand, since I don't have it installed, but if you google for
"remove wga" you'll find countless links offering advice.

Not even close....

Can microsoft be sued?

Have a nut...

installed on our computers without our permission,

No, it doesn't. You have to choose to leave automatic updates at the
default settings.

computer-specific info without our permission back to microsoft.

By allowing it to be installed in the first place, you granted permission.

I mean sure

Not at all, no more than it's "illegal" (Please cite the specific law,
would you?) for Microsoft.

What makes microsoft so special?

Nothing works like success. Otherwise, nothing.
