wp home edition will not shut down

since installing sp2 i had a major crash, reinstalled and now most things
work ok except for shutdown hangs???
and i cannot access the automatic updates page..it goes there but
absolutlely nothing happens..
would LOCVE some help with this have been searching and tryoing lots of
things..to no avail.

You can either,install xp cd,boot to cd,recovery,press enter for password,
then type:CHKDSK C: /R Type:EXIT when its thru,let xp restart.Or go to run,
type:cmd In cmd type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,then type:EXIT Restart
computer.
